Nick Shiambouros is back with a couple of selections from Newcastle and Kempton...
"He has cracked heads with some of the best two-year-olds in the country, and his best effort would see him go close"
Cosmic to lay down law
15:40 Newcastle - Cosmic Law
Cosmic Law will be suited by the conditions of this race.
This colt finished third to Vintage Brut in a Listed race at York earlier this month. He held every chance two furlongs from home, but failed to quicken and was easily brushed aside.
Earlier in the season he contested the Coventry, and was not disgraced behind the smart Calyx. He has cracked heads with some of the best two-year-olds in the country, and his best effort would see him go close. At present he is trading at 6.25/1 on the exchange.
Swissterious is the current favourite at 3.1511/5. He disappointed on his latest start, but previously finished second to the progressive Khaadem at Doncaster. His price is a little thin in my opinion.
Power to storm home
19:10 Kempton - Evasive Power
Evasive Power sets the standard in this novice stakes.
This colt finished an excellent second to Chicas Amigas at the Curragh in August. He looked the likely winner inside the final furlong, but was caught right on the line by the game winner. He has some solid form in the book, and was not disgraced behind the talented Fairyland in a Listed contest in the spring. I think he will go close, and is reasonably priced at 2.962/1 on the exchange.
Fox Champion is the obvious danger. He was narrowly beaten on debut at Doncaster in June and has every right to move forward. At present he is trading at 3.9, which is about right.
