Nick Shiambouros started the week with a winner and a second from Wolverhampton. Nick returns with a couple of selections from Leicester...
"I think he is open to improvement, and can make the most of his hurdling experience"
Back Secret Legacy in the 13:00 at Leicester
13:00 Leicester - Secret Legacy
Secret Legacy is taken to win this interesting contest.
This gelding makes his debut for trainer Ian Williams after finishing a distant third in a Cork maiden hurdle last November. He won a bumper in good style earlier in the season and clearly has ability. I think he is open to improvement, and can make the most of his hurdling experience. At present he is trading at 5.24/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Not surprisingly Don Des Fosses heads the market at 2.226/5. He is a point and bumper winner, and hails from a yard that can do little wrong at present. I can afford to let him win at that price.
14:05 Leicester - Arian
Arian is my idea of the winner of this interesting novices' hurdle.
This mare finished second to Angels Antics at Ffos Las last November. She made a mistake when holding every chance two from home, and was quickly outpaced. I think this bumper winner deserves another chance and is fairly priced at 3.55 on the exchange.
Spice Girl is the current favourite at 3.211/5. She finished down the field behind Western Ryder in a decent looking novices' hurdle race at Cheltenham last month. This three time bumper winner won a maiden hurdle at Towcester, but that was on much faster ground than she will encounter today. She deserves her position at the head of the market, but her ability to handle testing conditions must be taken on trust.
