Nick Shiambouros kicked off the week with a winner at Kelso yesterday. Nick is back with a couple of fancies from Exeter and Wetherby...
"There was a lot to like about this performance and she appears to be improving with racing"
14:00 Exeter - Perfect Summer
Perfect Summer should go close in this novices' selling hurdle.
This gelding finished second to Symphony Of Pearls in a selling handicap hurdle at Stratford earlier this month. Despite making a couple of errors, he kept on strongly in the closing stages and finished a country mile ahead of the third placed finisher.
Providing he jumps with a little more fluency he should be hard to beat. His current price of 2.8815/8 on the exchange is just about right.
Mr Caffrey was a little disappointing behind Harley Rebel at Fontwell on Boxing Day, but the testing conditions could have contributed to his poor showing. He has some reasonable flat form, and could be a danger to the selection on this better ground. He is trading at 4.57/2 on the exchange.
14:45 Wetherby - Chasma
Chasma is an interesting runner in this competitive event.
This mare beat Charlie Wingnut at Sedgefield last month. She took the lead on the run to the final flight and was pushed out to score decisively. There was a lot to like about this performance and she appears to be improving with racing.
I think she will go very close for her in form trainer, and I have backed her at her current price of 5.14/1 on the exchange.
Bertie Lugg is the current favourite at 3.711/4. He was a wide margin winner in a three runner event at Southwell last month and is clearly heading in the right direction. He rates as the main danger to the selection.
