Alan got off the mark for the week when Gold Beau got his head in front at Hamilton yesterday. Today's selections come from Lingfield and Kempton...
"Provided George Baker can get her settled quickly and up with the pace she could be difficult to pass"
Chris Wall runs Coolcalmcollected today, she broke her maiden tag at the sixth time of asking at Sandown over seven furlongs in July, where she made all and kept on well to win. Connections decided to step her up to a mile last time out where she just failed to hold on at Kempton over this trip last month.
Last time out it took her a while to settle, burning up quit a bit of energy in the early part of the race. The filly traded 1.42/5 in running that day at Kempton but just ran out of steam in the final stages, beaten less than a length into third, she is running here of the same mark of 70.
Provided George Baker can get her settled quickly and up with the pace she could be difficult to pass and at 3/1 I am happy to take that chance.
Amanda Perrett's horses often run well at Kempton and while Front Five has yet to even finish in a place position, his latest run finishing fourth behind Tingleo at Lingfield in July could prove to be decent. The horses placed second, third, fifth and sixth in that race have ALL come out and won since.
His last outing was over a mile and five furlongs, today Front Five is dropping back to a mile and a half, is the highest rated runner in the field (receiving a handy weight for age allowance) off a mark of 69, I get the feeing that there could well be more to show from this lightly raced three year old maiden.
Once again we are putting our faith in George Baker who will have to make the trip from Lingfield after winning on Coolcalmcollected, I think today could be the day that Front Five gets off the mark.
