Varside has been a bit frustrating for the many supporters of the Justin Snaith stable after four places in a row, but looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to get off the mark here. The son of Var shows plenty of early speed in his races and posted a good length and a quarter second last time over course and distance, so can hopefully show them all a clean pair of heels today.
Evie's Light continues to hit the places, all be it some way behind the principals, with a four-length second to Elusive Heart over course and distance when last in action at the end of May. The fourth that day (Sassy Lady) has won since to frank the form, and unless any of the newcomers are fully tuned up first time out, Evie's Light looks to have been found a suitable chance by trainer Greg Ennion.
Hero Quest is trained by the excellent Brett Crawford but must be frustrating his handler with six top-four places from six races so far. All his races so far have been between seven and ten furlongs, but the son of Ideal World tries a mile and a half for the first time this afternoon, and that may be just what is needed to see Hero Quest come home at the head of the pack.
