Bets of the Day: Ivy Mike to stand tall

With domestic racing returning on Wednesday, Nick ends his stint in the tipping chair with a short priced lay and a win bet from Turf Paradise...
"His conditioner is a master at placing horses where they can win, and this consistent individual should find himself in the winners' enclosure"
Rocket to fail
19:55 R1 Turf Paradise - Top Rocket
I will be pushing the lay button on Top Rocket in this bottom level maiden claimer.
This five-year-old gelding is winless in 18 starts. Last time out against slightly better company he finished a five length second over today's distance. He has shown plenty of pace in his races, but has been found decidedly wanting at the business end. His speed figures give him an edge over this field, but I suspect he will find one too good again. I suggest laying him at around 2.56/4 on the exchange.
Debutant Master Pip Squeak put in a nice piece of work three days ago posting 36.3 over three furlongs. He could pressure Top Rocket in the early stages along with Special Edition who should be in the mix.
Ivy ready to rise
22:19 R6 Turf Paradise - Ivy Mike
Ivy Mike should appreciate the slight ease in grade for high percentage trainer Robertino Diodoro.
This gelding was narrowly beaten against better last month. He contested the lead throughout, and was only just denied near the line. His conditioner is a master at placing horses where they can win, and this consistent individual should find himself in the winners' enclosure. He should be backed at around 3.814/5 on the exchange.
Smooth Criminal failed to fire against tougher on his first start over the course, but has plenty of back class. The blinkers come off today, and a better effort is expected. He should go off at around 8.07/1.
