There is National Hunt racing at Towcester on Monday and that is where we head for today's attempt at the Placepot...
"he looks to have been brought along for handicaps of this nature based on some of his runs in maiden company."
14:10 - Favourite Horsted Valley went in snatches when winning at Exeter and could be one to take on for Placepot purposes, although he of course holds an excellent chance. The form from Shady Glen's second at Taunton now looks quite impressive, with the winner Billy Congo defying a 19lb higher mark to win yesterday and he should be included along with Vaihau, who has shown promise in a few of his prior starts and could be leniently handicapped if putting it all together upped markedly in trip with a promising 10lb claimer booked.
14:40 - Although it seems a long time ago now, Masterplan looked a handy prospect when he won a bumper on his first start and although he has been a bitter disappointment since this looks a weaker race than he has been contesting and his yard arrive in good order. Twelve Strings remains well treated from this mark based on flat form and has proven form at the track, so should also be included.
15:10 - Many of these look to be rather exposed, so the eye is drawn to both Table Bluff who is bidding to follow up from his Southwell success in October, and Thom Thumb who ran creditably on handicap debut last time at Leicester and may have more to offer back from a break.
15:40 - Iora Glas bumped into one on handicap debut who has since bolted up under a penalty and he looks to have been brought along for handicaps of this nature based on some of his runs in maiden company. Miss Sassypants is only 3lb higher than when winning on handicap debut and although she has been disappointing since she is worth giving another chance with her yard in great form.
16:10 - Riddlestown has responded well to the fitting of blinkers on his last two starts and arrives well treated under a 7lb penalty considering he has won over C&D off just 1lb lower, he seems a solid option for a place.
16:40 - Vieux Lion Rouge is built like a chaser and is the highest rated of these over hurdles, he is expected to be hard to beat on his chasing debut for his top connections.
