Timeform have identified three SmartPlays at Newbury on Tuesday...
"Lower Hope Dandy was set to record a wide-margin success at Bangor on sole start last season, only to fall at the last, and he may be worth chancing on his first start since."
Sandy Beach - 12:50 Newbury
This novices' handicap chase looks open, but it was hard not to be impressed by the manner of Sandy Beach's chase debut success at Taunton 19 days ago and he can make light of a 13 lb rise in the weights. Sandy Beach was only a fair maiden after eight starts over hurdles, but he immediately looked a different proposition over the larger obstacles and he can continue the excellent run of the Colin Tizzard yard.
Amidon - 13:25 Newbury
Another gelding that made a winning chase debut last time Amidon, and he too can make it two from two over fences in this staying handicap chase. Amidon showed a good attitude in a novices' handicap chase over 21f at Fontwell three weeks ago, rallying well to beat Vic de Touzaine, and promises to be well suited to this step up in trip. His yard (Lucy Wadham) have continued among the winners since, too.
Lower Hope Dandy - 15:10 Newbury
Lower Hope Dandy was set to record a wide-margin success at Bangor on sole start last season, only to fall at the last, and he may be worth chancing on his first start since. Venetia Williams' gelding has been raised 9 lb for that run, but he still appeals as well handicapped (won a big-field novices' event at Cheltenham by 16 lengths on his only previous handicap outing) and can clearly go well fresh.
