Timeform pick out their three best bets in the UK on Thursday.
"The race he won last time wasn't as competitive as the field size would suggest, but he could hardly have done it any easier..."
Beallandendall - Ludlow 14:30
Beallandendall got off the mark over hurdles with an easy victory over this C&D three weeks ago and remains open to more improvement in this sphere. He was sent off at 100/1 when third at the same venue on his penultimate start, but he made a mockery of that price with a fairly useful effort and the two that finished immediately behind him that day have both won since. The race he won last time wasn't as competitive as the field size would suggest, but he could hardly have done it any easier and can defy a penalty to win again here. Ascotdeux Nellerie is also penalised for a C&D win in October and, although disappointing at Doncaster on his most recent outing, he has the best form in the book and can chase the selection home.
Set In My Ways - Chepstow 15:15
Set In My Ways produced easily his best effort to date over hurdles when second at Ludlow last time and the way he kept on in the closing stages suggests he will relish this stiffer test of stamina. He made a promising debut under rules when fifth in a valuable bumper at the Punchestown Festival in April, but he failed to live up to the promise of that initial outing in his first two starts over hurdles and wasn't particularly fancied to do so at Ludlow last month either. However, he belied his position in the market to run a big race on that occasion and the form of that effort leaves him some 7 lb clear of his rivals on Timeform ratings here. There should be more to come on his handicap debut and Set In My Ways can give Richard Johnson another winner in his relentless assault on the Jockeys' Championship. Horsted Valley rates the chief danger.
Powerful Dream - Wolverhampton 16:00
Powerful Dream is unbeaten in two starts on the all-weather and showed an impressive turn of foot to get on terms and then go past the more prominently ridden runner-up at Lingfield last time. A winner over this C&D on her penultimate start, she defied a 6 lb penalty for that success when doubling her tally earlier this month and is worth a try in this better grade. She has another rise in the weights to contend with here, but Powerful Dream has improved with each of her recent starts and warrants plenty of respect in her hat-trick bid. Wishsong also won over this C&D in January and can be forgiven her disappointing effort when clearly failing to handle the fibresand at Southwell last time. She is better than that and can give the selection most to do in a competitive little heat.
