Timeform pick out three bets from the UK on Thursday...
"This galloping track looks set to suit him and with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle for the first time, he gets the nod over Nadachi and Corinthian..."
Shrubland - Haydock 14:00
Shrubland hasn't achieved much to date in three starts in maidens, but he makes his handicap debut from a workable mark here and is certainly bred to appreciate the step up to this trip considering he is closely related to the useful mile and a half winner Kithonia, and his dam is a half-sister to the high-class stayer Hernando. This isn't a deep handicap and with plenty of improvement to come on what he has achieved to date, he looks the one to be with as he takes on his elders. Fellow three-year-old Raven Banner may need even further than this to be seen to best effect.
Yangtze - Newbury 19:30
Yangtze caught the eye last time at Musselburgh when fourth behind a pair of subsequent winners, being caught further back than ideal and seemingly not completely suited by the sharp track. This galloping track looks set to suit him and with Ryan Moore taking over in the saddle for the first time, he gets the nod over Nadachi and Corinthian, who are both also open to further improvement after a limited number of starts in handicaps between them.
Nigel - Epsom 19:50
Richard Hughes has quickly found the key to Nigel, and he produced a career-best effort when making all under an aggressive ride at Brighton at the beginning of this month, beating a subsequent winner by two and a quarter lengths. He could have more to offer now he is up and running under the same sort of tactics (first time employing them), and he is preferred to the three-year-old pair of Grapevine and Melendez.
