Timeform pick out three bets from Newcastle and Newmarket on Thursday...
"...it would be no surprise if she were to take another step forward for a trainer that has done well with similar types here..."
Grand Canyon - Newcastle 14:55
Grand Canyon fared better than the bare result when fourth at Ripon last time, forced to deliver his challenge from further back than ideal and never threatening to get on terms with the better placed winner. He ultimately did extremely well to finish as close as he did and deserves another chance to confirm the positive impression he created when successful over this trip at Redcar last month. He showed a fairly useful level of form on what was just his third start for the David O'Meara yard that day and - with more improvement likely to be forthcoming in cheekpieces for the first time - Grand Canyon is fancied to regain the winning thread with a defeat of recent C&D winner Briardale.
Exclusive Diamond - Newcastle 15:30
Exclsuive Diamond conceded first run to the winner on her most recent outing over this C&D, but made eye-catching progress through the field to take second and gave the impression there could be more to come after just five starts in her short career to date. That effort represented a significant improvement on the modest form she had shown on her stable debut at Musselburgh and it would be no surprise if she were to take another step forward for a trainer that has done well with similar types here. Our Kylie is respected on the back of a profitable campaign over hurdles, but Exclusive Diamond sets the standard on Timeform ratings and can open her account at the sixth time of asking.
Silent Attack - Newmarket 16:45
Silent Attack endured a troubled passage when shedding his maiden tag at Chelmsford last time and - forced to wait for a run as the field entered the final two furlongs - he was arguably value for more than the official winning margin. He stayed on powerfully once in the clear that day and the form of that effort could hardly have worked out better, with the second a comfortable winner of his only subsequent outing. Kummiya is better than he was able to show at Ascot last time, but it would be a surprise if Silent Attack couldn't take advantage of what looks a lenient mark on his handicap debut and he is expected to confirm the promise of his latest effort with a second career victory.
