York's Ebor Festival continues on Thursday

Timeform pick out their three best bets for the second day of York's Ebor Festival.

"Queen's Trust has had just five starts and remains open to further improvement, especially back at this trip..."

Rainbow Mist - 13:55 York

After three runs in quick succession at the beginning of the season, Rainbow Mist was much improved on the back of a six-week break when winning over five furlongs here last month, turning what had looked a competitive race on paper beforehand into something of a procession. Her two-and-a-quarter-length win over Tahoo got a boost when that one improved to win next time, and with this extra furlong here seemingly within her compass on pedigree (full-brother stayed seven furlongs), she should run well. Danielsflyer was narrowly touched off in a listed race at Epsom when last seen and could be the main danger if taking another step forward on just his fourth start.

Queen's Trust - 15:40 York

Found, last seen finishing a close second in the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, sets the standard in this year's Yorkshire Oaks, and is rightfully heading the betting at this stage. At the prices, however, it could be worth chancing Queen's Trust against her, after Sir Michael Stoute's filly got within a length and a quarter of Minding in the Nassau Stakes last time. Queen's Trust has had just five starts and remains open to further improvement, especially back at this trip given she seemed to lack a change of gear over 10f at Goodwood last time before plugging on again late.

Abingdon - 16:20 York

Abingdon progressed again last time on her fourth start to finish second behind Fireglow in a listed race over this trip at Newmarket. That race developed into a bit of a sprint finish across the final three furlongs, however, which didn't seem to suit Abingdon, and she may well be seen to better effect here granted more of a gallop, which she may well get with the likes of the front-running Lustrous in the field. Irish raider Glamorous Approach ran well in a handicap last time and is respected, but she has had more starts than Abingdon and perhaps isn't open to as much further improvement.
