"The Queen's Labyrinth barely had to come off the bridle when getting off the mark at Salisbury last month..."
Magical Effect - Thirsk 15:25
Ruth Car has done well with four-year-old Magical Effect since picking him up from Godophin for just 10,000 guineas last November, winning a maiden at this track in July and placed in handicaps on his other three starts for the yard, and this lightly-raced type probably has more to offer still. Magical Effect managed to win over five furlongs here in July but he's by New Approach, so very much bred for further, and he stayed on well returned to six furlongs when third of 16 to Ocean Sheridan over C&D last time, depite not being ideally placed. He can win off the same mark.
Shamson - Ascot 16:10
Shamson hasn't had the rub of the green in handicaps since scoring at Chelmsford in July, denied a clear run from two furlongs out when two lengths fourth of 12 to Son of Africa at Sandown last time, and he could be the answer in this competitive six-furlong handicap. He's certainly left the impression that he's capable of landing another handicap off his current mark of 95, while Lucy Barry taking off 5 lb may help, too.
Labyrinth - Ascot 16:45
The Queen's Labyrinth barely had to come off the bridle when getting off the mark at Salisbury last month, admittedly at odds-on in a small field, and she looks on a fair mark (81) for her handicap debut. She's still unexposed after just three outings, has the potential for further improvement and is fancied to score for Sir Michael Stoute and Ted Durcan.
