It's the final day of the Ebor meeting but there is also good racing from Goodwood, so we will bring you selections from both venues...
The presence of Harris Tweed and Electrolyser ensures that there will be plenty of pace in the race and Quest For Peace may prove to be the main beneficiary now that Dandino has been declared a non-runner.
Our first selection comes in the opening race at Goodwood, where the Richard Hannon-trained Sky Lantern (14:15) should simply prove too good for her rivals. She enters the contest boasting the best form by a considerable margin, having run well behind the promising Godolphin filly Certify in the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket two weeks ago. The front two pulled away from their rivals in the closing stages and it is hard to envisage Sky Lantern not confirming her superiority over the fillies who reoppose today. She had entered that race unbeaten, having won her first two starts, including here on debut, and looks to be a filly of real potential.
A win last time in the Goodwood Cup cemented the impression that Saddler's Rock (15:05 York) is one of the very best stayers around, and he looks to hold extremely strong claims of landing the Lonsdale Cup. John Oxx's colt made quite the impression last year as a three-year-old, relishing the extra emphasis on stamina to land the Doncaster Cup. He has returned this year in a similarly good vein of form and his rivals will need to produce a very smart performance to overturn this classy and consistent operator.
Finally, we head back to Goodwood to bring you our third selection. Quest For Peace (16:30) perhaps enjoyed the run of things when successful at this venue last time, dictating matters at the head of affairs before stealing a march on his rivals. However, he is tactically versatile and has proven in the past that he is a smart performer and relatively consistent performer, putting one below-par effort at Ascot aside. The presence of Harris Tweed and Electrolyser ensures that there will be plenty of pace in the race and Quest For Peace may prove to be the main beneficiary now that Dandino has been declared a non-runner.
