It's Scottish Grand National day at Ayr on Saturday

Timeform pick out three bets from Ayr on Saturday.

Flying Angel - 14:10 Ayr

After being hampered badly at the Cheltenham Festival Flying Angel resumed his progress over fences with a career-best success at Aintree last time, showing an admirable attitude in the process, and is fancied to come out on top over Cloudy Dream (back in second that day) again here. Clan Des Obeaux missed both of the festivals and could have been primed for this event, so could well be the biggest danger for a red-hot yard who took this last year.

Vaniteux - 15:20 Ayr

Vaniteux has had a fairly light season (just four starts so far) and is certainly not handicapped out of things from a mark of 153, with the furious gallop that looks on the cards here looking right up his street. He's narrowly preferred to the progressive Double W's - who won a similarly competitive race at Aintree last time - and the in-form Yorkist in what looks sure to be a hotly-contested handicap chase.

Southfield Royale - Ayr 15:55

Neil Mulholland's Southfield Royale arrives fresh after just two outings this term and is worth a chance to atone for his fall in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham as he remains potentially well treated on his novice form of last season, which includes a second in the Kauto Star Chase and a fourth in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. The Nicky Henderson pair Premier Bond and Sugar Baron promise to be well suited by this marathon trip, while Vicente is on the same mark as when winning 12 months ago, so is another for the shortlist.
