SS Vega - 15:05 Ayr

SS Vega has been solely raced at 6f so far in her career, but shaped as though that trip was inadequate at this track earlier this month when finishing third of nine after struggling to go the early pace and running on late. She takes on some exposed types here and if improving again for the extra furlong she could get off the mark on what will be just her second start in handicaps. Emblaze ran her best race to date at Musseulburgh in April and will be a player if building on that here, though her run at this track in May where she finished last of nine is far from encouraging.

Weld Al Khawaneej - 19:40 Beverley

Three-year-old Weld Al Khawaneej hasn't been seen to best effect on his last few starts, held up in a falsely run race at Hamilton and then short of room at crucial points at Beverley and Pontefract on his next two starts. His fourth last time was probably his best effort to date, however, and with a smoother passage here today, he should give a good account against his elders. The lightly raced four-year-old City of Night wasn't seen to best effect last time (poorly positioned), either, and could be one of the more likely dangers.

Monsieur Glory - 20:10 Beverley

Monsieur Glory isn't completely straightforward and has looked tricky under pressure on more than one occasion this season, but despite that he has acquitted himself well in some warm three-year-old handicaps, including when second over this C&D on his penultimate start, beating two subsequent winners in third and fourth, which remains his best run to date. He would have benefited from a better gallop when below his best at Hamilton last time, and is worth another chance to get back to winning ways. This represents a drop in class for Eutropius, who ran well at Carlisle last time, and he could also run well under Silvestre De Sousa.
