Timeform pick out three bets from Kempton on Boxing Day.
Max Ward - Kempton 13:30
Max Ward was outclassed when third of four on his most recent outing in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown, but should be seen to better effect now dropped in grade and deserves another chance to confirm the promise of his previous victory at Huntingdon. He produced a useful effort on chasing debut that day and - 2 lb clear of his nearest rival on Timeform ratings here - Max Ward should prove extremely difficult to beat if arriving in the same form and is fancied to regain the winning thread with a defeat of the unexposed Gold Present.
Frodon - Kempton 14:05
Frodon showed improved form when successful on his most recent outing in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham, travelling strongly in the leaders' slipstream throughout and finding plenty in the closing stages to see off the attentions of some more-experienced campaigners. He receives 7 lb from each of his nine rivals here and, with the possibility of more to come after just five starts over the larger obstacles, Frodon is taken to get the better of Irish raider Anibale Fly and can register a first success at the very highest level.
Thistlecrack - Kempton 15:15
Thistlecrack maintained his unbeaten record over fences with a typically dominant display at Newbury last time, taking his record to three wins from three starts and doing so in a far more controlled manner than had previously been the case at Cheltenham. Indeed, his sound jumping technique that day was enough to convince connections to go for this race and, while stablemate Cue Card is an obvious danger, Thistlecrack is expected to match the best of his top-class form over hurdles and can take this step out of novice company in his stride.
