Timeform pick out three bets for Monday's racing...
"He was ultimately found wanting in the closing stages, but ran an eye-catching race for one so inexperienced..."
Giant Spark - 14:50 Ayr
Giant Spark represents a yard that does particularly well with their sprinters and remains unexposed after just six career starts on the Flat. He didn't produce his best on the fibresand at Southwell on his penultimate start, but he looked sure to come on for that first run in almost five months and confirmed that impression when posting a fair effort to finish fourth at Thirsk last time. He fared better than the bare result that day too, forced to weave his way between runners and doing best of those held-up with a strong finishing effort. He is open to more improvement than most of these and Giant Spark can put it all together for a first win here. Jinky goes well at this venue and is feared most.
Italian Beauty - 15:30 Chelmsford
Italian Beauty was prolific for the Tim Jarvis yard last season, winning four of her first six starts and appearing to be over the top when disappointing on her final two outings of 2015. She produced a career-best when third on debut for trainer Brian Ellison at Redcar last month, travelling with enthusiasm in the early stages and getting understandably tired on her return from five months off the track. She can do better with that first run under her belt and, having improved some 18 lb in the handicap last year, Italian Beauty is fancied to take another step forward for her new connections with a fifth career success here. Mezzotint can give the selection most to do after a decisive victory over the C&D in December.
Copper Knight - 17:30 Windsor
Copper Knight showed fairly useful form on his racecourse debut at Newmarket's Craven meeting and that experience should stand him in good stead in a race where most of the field are getting their first taste of competitive action. He displayed good early speed on the Rowley Mile last time and, having been close up from the moment the gates opened, he was still well in contention as the field entered the final furlong. He was ultimately found wanting in the closing stages, but ran an eye-catching race for one so inexperienced and was a long way clear of the remainder in fourth. Copper Knight should go close if reproducing the same level of form, with Legendary Lunch worth a check in the market for a yard that does well here.
