Timeform pick out bets from three three different venues in the UK on Friday...
"Unexposed at this trip, he could well have more to offer under a potentially lenient 5 lb rise in the weights."
Mazzini - 15:10 Ascot
Despite being 2 lb out of the weights there is plenty to like about Mazzini, who would have finished at least second if he'd got any sort of run last time at Yarmouth (finished with running left). The excellent George Wood claims a valuable 5 lb for the first time, and Mazzini can resume his progression on Friday with a bit more luck. The Jury is out on Ornate's will to win, but he will likely prove a danger with Ryan Moore taking the ride for the red-hot William Haggas yard.
Mountainside - 15:35 Hexham
Mountainside has made a good start for Mark Walford over the summer, winning two of his four starts, including over this trip at Perth last time. That represented his best effort to date on Timeform ratings and, unexposed at this trip, he could well have more to offer under a potentially lenient 5 lb rise in the weights. Double W's will find this easier than the race he ran in at Cheltenham at the back-end of last season and could be the main threat.
Workbench - 16:00 Fontwell
Workbench has won the last two renewals of this race from lower marks but should still be very competitive from his current mark given that he placed in a handicap at Cheltenham from 8 lb higher last season. A good spin over hurdles at Fontwell at the beginning of the month will presumably have put him spot on for this, and he should take plenty of beating. Raven's Tower needs to bounce back from a couple of below-par efforts but is on a decent enough mark.
