Timeform pick out three bets from the fourth day of Glorious Goodwood on Friday...
"Marsha confirmed the impression that she had given on her previous start at Ayr that she is a very smart sprinter on a sharp upward curve..."
Thikriyaat - 14:35 Goodwood
Thikriyaat's second to Ribchester in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot got a good boost here on Wednesday when that one finished a close third to The Gurkha in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes. The return to a mile is a positive for Thikriyaat, who won his maiden over that trip and was nearest at the finish over seven furlongs last time, and with more improvement to come on just his fifth career start, Sir Michael Stoute's runner could well have more to offer. Emotionless, an impressive winner of last season's Champagne Stakes last season, was disappointing on his return this season at Royal Ascot following an injury on his final two-year-old start, and though clearly talented, has something to prove at present.
Marsha - 15:45 Goodwood
Though it was only a listed race won by Marsha at York last time, it was a group-calibre field on paper, with the thriving Easton Angel in second and Muthmir - who won this race last year - back in third. Marsha confirmed the impression that she had given on her previous start at Ayr that she is a very smart sprinter on a sharp upward curve, and she is given the vote to make her first foray into group company a successful one on Friday. Besides Marsha and Easton Angel - who is also seemingly a group-winning filly in the making - Goldream is afforded plenty of respect after he missed his chance to defend his title in the King's Stand at Royal Ascot due to the soft ground.
Poet's Word - 17:30 Goodwood
Poet's Word was unable to justify favouritism on his handicap debut at Epsom last time (fourth), but that race has worked out well since, with the second, fifth and sixth horses all winning next time out. Poet's Word shaped as though he would have benefited from a more strongly run affair that day, and with plenty of pace forecast here, he could be seen to good effect stepping up a furlong in trip, which looks set to suit him on pedigree (dam stayed 11 furlongs and has produced offspring who stay two miles). The hat-trick seeking Al Neksh heads a long list of dangers in what is a competitive affair.
