Timeform pick out three bets for Friday's UK racing.
"This doesn't look a deep race and with Gavin Sheehan taking over in the saddle, Red Orator is worth siding with here."
Von Blucher - Sandown 13:20
This will potentially be a strong three-year-old handicap, but it is hard to ignore the claims of Von Blucher from a BHA mark of just 86, considering Ennaadd - who he beat under a hands-and-heels ride at Lingfield on his final start last season - has since defied a handicap mark of 91. He should have plenty more to offer and is preferred to Chief Whip, who was stylish when winning at this track on debut last summer and is also open to plenty of improvement on his handicap debut.
Monbeg River - Perth 14:30
Monbeg River won his first chase start over this C&D in September and has progressed plenty since then, shaping as though he was ahead of his mark on more than one occasion despite only managing second on his last three starts, and he looks the one to be with in a tightly knit contest. Parsnip Pete has been let down by his jumping in some hotly contested races since last success, but has dropped to a tempting mark and represents an in-form yard, so is also worth considering.
Red Orator - Plumpton 19:50
Red Orator looked one to keep an eye out for in handicaps when having three quick starts in novices in December/January and looks to have been handed a workable opening mark in this sphere, considering he had a BHA rating of 85 on the Flat when trained by Mark Johnston (sold to this yard for 44,000 gns). This doesn't look a deep race and with Gavin Sheehan taking over in the saddle, Red Orator is worth siding with here. Last Echo was useful on the Flat herself and could be the main danger to the selection.
