With last week's thrills and spills still fresh in the memory, it's very much after the Lord Mayor's show with today's racing, though the SmartPlay team highlight a trio of interesting horses competing at Thirsk and Windsor this evening.
Lizzie caught the eye in no uncertain terms at Hamilton on her last outing...
Racing in Berkshire moves from Ascot to Windsor, where Sir Pedro looks very reasonably treated on his first foray into handicaps in the six-furlong event at 19:10. From a sprinting family, he impressed when quickening clear on debut to spreadeagle the field in a 20-runner Doncaster maiden, in the style of a colt who will be challenging in better races than this for Charles Hills in the near future.
Up at Thirsk where Ingleby Exceed, twice successful around this time last year, is fancied to take the seven-furlong handicap at 19:50. She showed the benefit of an earlier pipe-opener when a good second to Levitate at Doncaster recently and can race off the same mark here. With a plum draw and all ground coming alike to Ingleby Exceed, David O'Meara's filly is taken to get off the mark for 2012.
Lizzie caught the eye in no uncertain terms at Hamilton on her last outing and, though winless for almost 12 months, looks primed to take the finale at the Yorkshire track (21:20). When last victorious she raced off a BHA mark of 66, yet can run off a mere 59 this evening and is another for whom soft ground conditions hold no fear.
