Not only does Matraash have a good chance on form in the ten-furlong handicap for older horses at Lingfield (he's Timeform top rated) but he is also set to be ridden by the excellent Adam Kirby for the first time. The selection has finished a creditable second over today's C&D (partnered by Shane Kelly) and over the extended nine furlongs at Wolverhampton (this time with Joe Fanning onboard) on his last two starts and has won before off his current BHA mark of 60 (the ceiling for today's race). This dual C&D winner should also get the race run to suit his hold-up style, with front runner Understory and prominent racers Lord of The Storm, Attain and Lily Edge also opposing today. With Munsarim not sure to be in the same form as last time (well-backed winner) and Understory often a weak finisher, Matraash looks a good-value bet at around 6.611/2.
Nigel Twiston-Davies has had plenty of time (122 days) to learn about Todareistodo, and the nine-year-old is taken to get off the mark for his new yard at the first time of asking in the closing handicap chase (16:50) at Leicester. Twiston-Davies has won with a few horses he has inherited from Jim Old of late (including Aldeburgh and Valid Point) and he can repeat the feat with Todareistodo who has spent most of his life with Old, but was last seen having a single start for Claire Dyson (fell early) last October. The switch of yards shows as a Trainer Uplift on the Timeform race card and Todareistodo is also Timeform top-rated by 3 lb having split a pair of next-time-out winners in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap at Towcester on his penultimate outing. He's my best bet of the day at around 3.55.
