Adam Brookes is your radio pundit on Tuesday and he has two selections for you at Wetherby...
"He comes into the race in really good form, runner-up on two of his last three starts, including when a place ahead of next-time-out winner Fred over three miles at Doncaster on his latest start."
Lowcarr Motion showed a bit of ability in three goes in bumpers (for Phil Kirby) and on his first few goes over hurdles, but he took a big step forward making his handicap debut when third behind the thriving Dewala and the reliable Bogside (and a place ahead of last-time-out winner Cadore) at Catterick and can improve again in the 14:55 at Wetherby. Micky Hammond's gelding also deserved some extra credit that day as he did best of those that raced off the pace, his best work coming at the finish, and the extra furlong and a half he faces this afternoon is a positive. Lowcarr Motion remains capable of better still after just seven career starts and he doesn't have anything obvious to beat today, his biggest threat perhaps Westend Theatre.
Lord Brendy is my best bet of the day in the twenty-two furlong handicap chase (17:15) at the same track. Like Lowcarr Motion, Lord Brendy is Timeform top-rated for his race ahead of a bunch of horses with questions to answer - Hercomestrouble is in danger of going the wrong way over fences, Pinerolo is lazy, Allanard is unreliable and so on - and he comes into the race in really good form, runner-up on two of his last three starts, including when a place ahead of next-time-out winner Fredo over three miles at Doncaster on his latest start. It's only a matter of time before a handicap chase drops to Lord Brendy and there's a very good chance it'll be today, the lack of a confirmed front runner is the only real concern as patient tactics seem the default with him. However he doesn't go like a horse that needs holding onto and hopefully Peter Buchanan will be aware of the way the race may be run and ride him closer to the lead.
Back Lowcarr Motion @ 5.85/1 in the 14.55 at Wetherby
Back Lord Brendy @ 3.45 in the 17.15 at Wetherby
