Timeform's Phil Thompson is sitting in the pundit's chair on Timeform Radio this afternoon and provides two selections at this afternoon's only National Hunt card.
"A lengthy, useful-looking sort, Matripajo achieved little in four starts over hurdles, but he hinted at more ability on more than one occasion..."
The 14:40 at Ffos Las this afternoon features a number of interesting sorts, but none more so that the Rebecca Curtis-trained Audacious Plan. The son of Old Vic has yet to get off the mark in four attempts over hurdles, but he showed much improved form when chasing home Church Hall in a handicap at this course earlier this month, the effort all the more laudable as he was returning from a seven-month layoff and he still looked rough around the edges as the race was beginning to take shape, doing his best work at the finish. Audacious Plan is entitled to have come on plenty for that reappearance and, with further improvement on the cards, he looks sure to make a bold bid.
The following race on the card may not look like much of a betting heat at first glance, given the recent form figures of the participants involved. However, those figures only tell half of the story with regards to the Jonjo O'Neill-trained Matripajo. A lengthy, useful-looking sort, Matripajo achieved little in four starts over hurdles, but he hinted at more ability on more than one occasion and, with his pedigree (half-brother to two winners over fences, most notably top-class chaser War of Attrition) suggesting that the switch to fences this afternoon will be the making of him, it will be disappointing if he cannot make his presence felt of a potentially very lenient opening mark of 85.
Recommended bets:
Both at Ffos Las
Back Audacious Plan in the 14:40
Back Matripajo in the 15:10
