"At Chepstow last time, Kudu Country certainly left the impression he was back in good form, travelling well for a long way and a threat to the winner Oscar Hill when he unseated rider at the last."
Ludlow and Chepstow provide the jumping action this afternoon, with some interesting races on the cards, and though good bets look rather thin on the ground, there's one worth an interest at each meeting.
To start at Ludlow, in the handicap chase at 16:05, in which Mountain King is a relatively short-priced favourite. He is open to improvement over fences, though his mark fully reflects his hurdles form and his jumping so far in chases has been a little error-prone. He's worth taking on with Kudu Country, who looks to be finding his feet with Evan Williams, after three runs for the yard this season. At Chepstow last time, Kudu Country certainly left the impression he was back in good form, travelling well for a long way and a threat to the winner Oscar Hill when he unseated rider at the last. Kudu Country has gone up 4 lb in the weights for that run but still looks on a workable mark and ought to have conditions which serve him well this afternoon.
At Chepstow, the unexposed Dashaway is of interest in the novice handicap hurdle at 14:30. His fitness has to be taken on trust, but it's interesting his trainer Jeremy Scott - back in form in recent days - is running him in a handicap after just two quick runs over hurdles in the autumn. The better of those efforts came on the first start, and on any of those around him, Dashaway is well treated this afternoon. The second run, just twelve days later, surely is excusable so soon after a run on heavy ground. Most of the opposition looks exposed, though the hat-trick seeking Its A Long Road is a danger, albeit up in grade, and Ballyknock Lad has some potential. However, Dashaway has achieved a fair bit more than the latter and gets weight off of him.
Recommended bets:
Back Kudu Country @ 7.06/1 in the 16:05 at Ludlow
Back Dashaway @ 4.57/2 in the 14:30 at Chepstow
