Joe Nordoff brings you bets from Musselburgh and Wolverhampton on Friday...
The 14:55 at Musselburgh is a pretty competitive 0-100 handicap hurdle but a chance is taken on Dalstontosiloth. Barry Murtagh's charge is yet to get his head in front, yet there are reasons to be positive about his efforts in defeat since returning from a break, notably when failing to see out the two-and-a-half mile trip at Kelso last time. Two miles on this flat track could well prove to be optimum conditions for Dalstontosiloth, and this may well be his big chance to shine, the addition of a tongue tie and the booking of Brian Hughes others factors that might lead to an improved performance. Endeavor was probably caught a little further back than ideal over C&D last time, and he may well prove the most significant threat ridden a little more positively this time.
We head to Wolverhampton under the floodlights for our next selection, with Invincible Ridge (16:25) getting the nod to continue his revival since joining the Eric Alston stable. The son of Invincible Spirit ended a lengthy losing run in a C&D seller on debut for this yard at the beginning of the month, and confirmed himself on a fair mark when finding only one too good over six furlongs here last time. The reopposing Thorpe Bay and fellow C&D winner Dynamo Walt may well be the pair to chase him home.
We remain at Wolverhampton for our final play, and it would be rather disappointing if Showboating were not able to make a considerable impact in the seven-furlong handicap at 18.25. Twice successful under Martin Harley on AW earlier in his career, Showboating ended the turf campaign with a solid runner-up effort from a 5 lb higher mark than today, and, provided he doesn't blow the start, he looks on a very appealing mark of 72. Know Your Name and Al Muheer both shaped well on their latest starts and may pose the most significant threats.
