Meydan 15:20 - Silver Galaxy
The well-bred Silver Galaxy made a very promising debut here 2 weeks ago when third behind State Law and he looks the type who will improve significantly for that initial experience. The step up in trip is expected to suit and this looks an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. There's a distinct lack of depth in this contest, though One Man Band is interesting despite a wide draw, while Arabian Skies can go well on return if taking to dirt.

Meydan 15:55 - Modern History

Musabah Al Muhairi holds a strong hand in this event, with Shaishee likely to be warm order after his impressive handicap success here on his return, though of his pair, Modern History is preferred. This is his first run since leaving Charlie Appleby and he went desperately close to landing a Carnival handicap on his return last season when edged close home by Fulbright. In this small field, he has the potential to dominate proceedings once again and while dirt is another unknown, he is certainly bred for the job and his half-brother Opportunist was a multiple winner at Nad Al Sheba. Elsewhere Ennobled Friend rates a danger getting handy weight from the majority of these and he has promised further improvement at some point.

Meydan 17:40 - Cross Grain

A big field for this concluding handicap and though plenty of these are fully exposed, the Satish Seemar-trained Cross Grain is certainly not one of those. It took a while for the penny to drop on debut, though in the end he powered away to land a fair maiden at this track last month and he should have plenty to offer off this opening mark in handicaps, with an extra furlong sure to suit as well. State Law was no match for him in that race, though he's broken his maiden tag himself since and should also go well here. Elsewhere, Intimate looks of interest though may have to settle for a minor role.
