Timeform pick out three bets from the action at Downpatrick on Wednesday.
"She had produced a career-best when second at Punchestown on her penultimate start and a reproduction of that effort would leave her rivals with some 6 lb to find on Timeform ratings..."
Midnight Theatre - Downpatrick 15:30
Midnight Theatre was well-beaten when turned over at short odds last time, but she clearly failed to give her true running that day and her earlier form would give her every chance in this company. She had produced a career-best when second at Punchestown on her penultimate start and a reproduction of that effort would leave her rivals with some 6 lb to find on Timeform ratings. A winner between the flags, Midnight Theatre certainly looks up to winning a race in this sphere and she'll get few better opportunities than what looks to be an ordinary race here. Milan Dancer is feared most after an improved display at Hexham last time.
Le Grand Chene - Downpatrick 16:35
Le Grand Chene was a good second in a more competitive race than this last time and that represented a better effort on Timeform ratings than when successful at this track in May. He was also returning from seven months off the track on that occasion and deserves credit for the way he kept on despite appearing to tire quite badly in the closing stages. The drop back in trip is an obvious concern and he does have a tendency to throw in the odd disappointing run, but Le Grand Chene is fancied to go one better than last time and register the eighth win of his career here. Whisky Galore would be the biggest danger if rediscovering the form of his win at Sligo in September.
Bingo Conti - Downpatrick 17:40
Bingo Conti ran creditably on his racecourse debut at last year's Punchestown Festival and that race was a far more competitive event than he faces here. He hasn't been seen in public since that initial outing 11 months ago, but he has joined the powerful yard of Gordon Elliott in the interim and, provided he isn't found wanting for fitness on his return, Bingo Conti is taken to open his account under rules at the second time of asking. Bel Sas ran well below expectations on his first start for Willie Mullins, but is clearly thought capable of better and looks likely to give the selection most to do.
