Timeform pick out three bets from Thurles on Thursday.
Meadow Cross - Thurles 15:45
This is a very competitive two-mile handicap hurdle, but Meadow Cross arrives on the back of excellent placed efforts in this sphere and on the level, so she rates the most persuasive option. Denis Hogan's four-year-old finished second of 14 to Shake The Bucket at Dundalk late last month and has since finished third of 15 to A Twist of Fate back over hurdles at Fairyhouse, faring best of those held up. She deserves a reward for her consistency.
De Plotting Shed - Thurles 16:20 (LAY)
De Plotting Shed has been well backed for this minor hurdle, but his new price around 3.3512/5 in perhaps on the short side given he's at least 20 lb behind Val de Ferbet and Bentelimar on the Timeform ratings, admittedly with his figure enhanced by a 'p' (capable of better). Ruby Walsh rode Val de Ferbet five times when he was trained by Willie Mullins, recording form figures of 411P2, and it looks significant that his current trainer Andrew McNamara has turned to Walsh here. Bentelimar finished well clear of next-time-out winner Hargam when runner-up to Ivan Grozny in a Grade 2 hurdle on his penultimate outing.
Dorking - Thurles 16:55
Dorking produced her best effort to date, on her debut for Thomas Foley, when fifth in a Fairyhouse handicap earlier this month and that may not prove her limit, either. Not only is she top rated for this handicap hurdle but she's also the only horse in the field with a 'p' attached to her rating. Dorking should be suited by this increase in trip too, given she's by Yeats out of a sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser at up to three and a quarter miles Master Sebastian.
