"Both of the fillies who headed Miss Gossip in this year’s running were well-bred sorts with some eye-catching entries..."
Cardinal Place - 14:05 Killarney
Cardinal Place looks capable of winning here back on home soil, following on from his Aintree victory where he beat a subsequent winner in Nabucco. Cardinal Place was outclassed by the likes of Douvan in the Champion Novice at Punchestown prior to that, but he is clearly effective in these calmer waters and should prove hard to beat if his tendency to jump right doesn't cause too much of an issue. Last Encounter and Swansea Mile look the biggest dangers to the selection.
Miss Gossip - 18:25 Leopardstown
The Curragh maiden that Miss Gossip contested last time is traditionally fairly strong, with several subsequent Group winners involved in the finish of last year's renewal. Both of the fillies who headed Miss Gossip in this year's running were well-bred sorts with some eye-catching entries, and she should give a good account today in what on paper is a less competitive affair, with the main danger probably being Hazamar, who will improve for his first run where he was not knocked about.
Carla Bianca - 20:00 Leopardstown
Carla Bianca lost nothing in defeat to Words at the Curragh last time as she attempted to give away 17lb to the highly vaunted filly. Dermot Weld's grey faces another tough ask today as she races off level weights with the colts, but if she can build on her last run she looks set to record a second success at this level. Brendan Bracken is a reliable sort in this grade and could be the main danger.
