There's Group 1 racing at the Curragh on Sunday

Timeform pick out three bets from the card at the Curragh on Sunday, featuring the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes.

"Chestnut Fire have finished a good deal closer had he not encountered traffic problems and compensation awaits."

Fort Del Oro - Curragh 16:05

Air Force Blue is still Timeform top rated for this Group 3 Phoenix Sprint based on his exploits at two, but he's just about hanging on to a rating that has already been downgraded, and a safer bet is Fort Del Oro who has produced smart form when winning listed races at Naas in April (over five furlongs on her return) and July (six furlongs). Fort Del Oro only made her debut as a three-year-old last May and remains unexposed after just nine starts, so there could well be more to come from Eddie Lynam's filly.

Chestnut Fire - Curragh 16:35

Chestnut Fire continues to edge down the weights (now 4 lb higher than his last winning mark) and left the impression that he could be about to capitalise on the handicapper's mercy when sixth in a big-field Galway handicap won by Beau Satchel 12 days ago. Indeed, four-year-old Chestnut Fire have finished a good deal closer had he not encountered traffic problems and compensation awaits.

Aspen Mountain - Curragh 17:05

The winning post came a stride or two too soon for Aspen Mountain at Killarney, where he finished strongly after finding himself short of room at a crucial stage, and there should be better to come from this well-bred colt. He earns the vote in the finale ahead of another unexposed type in Rezeki.
