There is a good day of racing at the Curragh on Sunday

There is plenty of Group action at the Curragh on Sunday, and Timeform's Irish team have picked out three bets...

"However, Kingfisher sets a very good standard judged on his effort in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and is the choice of Joseph O'Brien."

Herald The Dawn - 15:40 Curragh

There's little to choose between Herald The Dawn and Shogun on a line through Sunglider, who was beaten a similar distance by the aforementioned duo in maidens at Naas and this C&D respectively. Aidan O'Brien is seeking his tenth winner of this prize and Shogun, who son Joseph prefers to Air Vice Marshal, is accorded a great deal of respect but Herald The Dawn is preferred at the forecast prices.

Kingfisher - 16:10 Curragh

This should boil down to a straight fight between Aidan O'Brien's duo Kingfisher and Order of St George. The latter, the sole 3-y-o in the line up, did the job well at Down Royal and is still unexposed as a stayer so he is not passed over at all lightly. However, Kingfisher sets a very good standard judged on his effort in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and is the choice of Joseph O'Brien.

Ted Veale - 17:10 Curragh

Ted Veale went close in a valuable handicap in this sphere at Galway last month, and also posted a fine effort when third in the Galway Hurdle at the same meeting 3 days later. On the evidence of those performances he is as good as ever and is preferred to Digeanta and unexposed maiden winner Hobart in this competitive contest.
