Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Saturday July 30
Timeform pick out three bets from the sixth day of the Galway Festival on Saturday.
"That represented a significant improvement on the form he had showed in his first two starts of the current campaign..."
Little Haarth - Galway 15:15
Little Haarth shaped well when second on his return from over seven months off the track at Bellewstown four weeks ago and showed the benefit of that outing with a commanding success at Ballinrobe last time. He proved better than ever on that occasion, staying on to lead as the field turned into the straight and quickly drawing clear. He has a 7 lb hike in the weights to contend with here, but could easily have gone up more and Little Haarth is fancied to see off the attentions of Totalize and continue his fine form of late.
Firey Speech - Galway 16:25
Firey Speech opened his account at the second time of asking on his most recent outing at Naas, appearing to have learnt plenty from his debut effort at Gowran Park and looking potentially useful as he held off the sustained challenge of the runner-up. That rival has since finished fourth in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday and - likely to make his mark in better company before too long - Firey Speech is expected to take advantage of what looks a lenient mark and get the better of the improving Famous Milly.
Cairdiuil - Galway 17:00
Cairdiuil looked an unlucky loser when second over a longer trip here on Wednesday, suffering a troubled passage as the field entered the final two furlongs and ultimately doing extremely well to get within a neck of the wayward winner. That represented a significant improvement on the form he had showed in his first two starts of the current campaign and - 2 lb clear of his nearest rival on Timeform ratings - Cairdiuil looks sure to be thereabouts if arriving here in the same form and is preferred to the consistent Deeds Not Words.
