Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Mullins' good run to continue at Thurles

Willie Mullins unveils a pair of potentially useful chasing recruits today

Timeform's Irish team have picked out three more SmartPlays on an all-chase card at Thurles...

"Vesper Bell has long appealed as the type to do well over fences and can get his career over the larger obstacles off to the perfect start in the maiden at 14:10."

Marito improved markedly on his debut effort for this yard when finding only his stable comapanion, Drive Time, too good in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown in May, and Ruby Walsh's mount looks the one to beat on his chasing debut at 13:00. That form is as good as anything any of the rest of these were capable of over hurdles and Marito is sure to have been well schooled prior to this first outing over fences.

Vesper Bell has long appealed as the type to do well over fences and can get his career over the larger obstacles off to the perfect start in the maiden at 14:10. A maiden hurdle winner at Fairyhouse in January, he finished last season by splitting Marasonnien and Sous Les Cieux in a Grade 1 over three miles at the Punchestown Festival and he is taken to get the better of Make A Track.

Clashnabrook, who features in Timeform's Horses To Follow for the 2012/13 jumps season, made the most of his much lower hurdles mark when winning with plenty to spare at Gowran last Saturday and can overcome a 16 lb hike in the second division of the handicap chase at 15:20. He is still well treated in relation to his hurdles form and this isn't a particularly strong contest.
