Timeform pick out three bets from the opening day of the Galway Festival on Monday.
"He travelled smoothly into contention as the field entered the straight that day, but found his path blocked on several occasions when attempting to deliver his challenge..."
Deputy Marshall - Galway 17:45
Deputy Marshall fared better than the bare result when fourth on his most recent outing at Sligo, forced to deliver his challenge from further back than ideal and never threatening to get on terms with the better-placed winner. He showed enough that day to suggest he can take advantage of his current mark before too long, though, and had looked the type to do well in handicaps when opening his account at this venue in October. Camlann is an obvious danger on the back of a Flat success at Fairyhouse, but Deputy Marshall is just 1 lb behind that rival on Timeform ratings here and looks overpriced as he bids to register the second victory of his career under rules.
Right Honourable - Galway 18:15
Right Honourable produced a fairly useful level of form when third on his racecourse debut at Leopardstown recently and would arguably have won but for suffering a troubled passage in the closing stages. He travelled smoothly into contention as the field entered the straight that day, but found his path blocked on several occasions when attempting to deliver his challenge and ultimately did extremely well to finish as close as he did. That effort still has to go down as a most encouraging start to his career and - entitled to improve with that initial experience under his belt - Right Honourable is expected to open his account with a defeat of Courage Under Fire here.
My Fantasea - Galway 19:50
My Fantasea appeared to relish the step up to 1¼m when getting off the mark on his most recent outing at Dundalk and shaped as if this longer trip would be well within his range when holding off the sustained challenge of the runner-up. Indeed, he looked to have more in hand than the official winning margin suggests that day and - open to more improvement after just three starts in his short career to date - the handicapper may have underestimated him with an opening mark of 82. That form already gives him the edge over Motherland on Timeform ratings and My Fantasea is fancied to confirm the promise of last time and follow up in a stronger race here.
