Timeform's Irish team highlight three selections for today's meeting at Leopardstown...
"...the step up in trip is expected to bring about plenty of improvement and Kingdom looks worth supporting to make a winning return off what could prove to be a lenient mark."
Scintillula failed to get off the mark in three attempts as a juvenile, but that only tells half the story as she was highly tried after her debut, producing her best effort when chasing home Sky Lantern in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh on her second outing. She failed to repeat that effort on her final start, but Scintillula will prove very hard to beat back if anywhere near her best form this afternoon.
Only Exception produced his best effort last season when fourth in a heavy-ground Curragh maiden on his final outing in October and he wasn't disgraced in a first-time hood when third to Killena Boy in a handicap at Gowran on his reappearance earlier this month. He is entitled to come on for that outing and, with conditions to suit, he looks capable of scoring off his current handicap mark.
Kingdom is bred to be a smart individual and, while he doesn't look to be one of his stables leading lights at present, he looks sure to come into his own this season. Despite his breeding, it took Kingdom three attempts to get off the mark as juvenile and he didn't need to be at his best in first-time cheekpieces when landing an ordinary-looking Curragh maiden when last seen in October. The bare form of that effort is nothing special, but the step up in trip is expected to bring about plenty of improvement and Kingdom looks worth supporting to make a winning return off what could prove to be a lenient mark.
