Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Hartani to go continue on Leger trail

It's Irish Cambridgeshire day at the Curragh this afternoon

It's a cracking card at the Curragh this afternoon and the Timeform Irish team highlight another three selections...

it is unlikely we have seen the best of Hartani and he will prove difficult to beat this afternoon.

The card kicks off with a nursery at 14:10 and Awakened Spirit is taken to get us off to a flying start. David Wachman's filly confirmed the promise she showed on debut when landing a soft-ground maiden over five furlongs at Tipperary a fortnight ago. Awakened Spirit impressed with the way she travelled that day and she is open to further improvement.

The Group 3 Irish St Leger Trial Stakes at 15:15 has a small but select field and we will side with Hartani. The John Oxx-trained colt was unraced as a juvenile, but has been rapidly making up for lost time, completing a hat-trick when slamming Midnight Soprano in the Curragh Cup over this C&D in July. That effort sets the standard here, but it is unlikely we have seen the best of Hartani and he will prove difficult to beat this afternoon.

The fillies' minor event at 15:50 features some nice types, but Snow Queen is the one that catches the eye. A very well-bred filly, was a good fifth in a Group 3 at Leopardstown on her second start and ran only just below that level when second in a maiden there last time. She is now tried in cheekpieces and she will go close if reproducing those efforts.
