Timeform pick out bets from Cork and Downpatrick on Friday evening.
"He is worth backing today back down in trip."
Rise of An Empire - Downpatrick 17:55
Rise of An Empire took a couple of starts to get up and running over hurdles but he took a big step forward when getting off the mark at this track earlier this month. He beat subsequent winner Sarah Joyce by seven lengths with ease under a hands-and-heels ride that day, and should have more to offer under a penalty for that success here. He makes more appeal than fellow last-time-out winners Dontbackme and John Monash.
Louis Leroy - Cork 19:05
Louis Leroy looked progressive prior to failing to see out seven furlongs at Naas nice days ago, for all he did enough that day to suggest he is still ahead of his mark, and it is worth remembering his two progressive performances at that track over six furlongs before that. He was poorly drawn at Fairyhouse in between those two Naas wins, and his profile overall is a positive one in handicaps given he has had valid excuses for his two defeats. He is worth backing today back down in trip. Deeds Not Words shaped as though five furlongs was not enough of a test last time at the Curragh and could be the chief threat.
Buzz Off Barroso - Cork 20:05
Buzz Off Barroso was unable to live up to her useful pedigree to get off the mark last season for Jessica Harrington, but she went close in some fairly warm three-year-old handicaps at Ballinrobe and Roscommon (touched off by a half-length and a neck, respectively) and if the switch to the all-conquering Willie Mullins yard can get her back to that sort of form after a drab end to the season, then she looks the one to be with here. War Room was in good form last time at Dundalk and will be a player if building on that back on turf.
