It's day five of the Galway Festival on Friday and Timeform pick out their three best bets on the card.
"Dalton Highway's claims aren't obvious judged on his form figures, but there's a strong chance this handicap has been his target for a long time."
Heartbreak City - Galway 17:10
The Tipperary novice hurdle Tony Martin's good dual-purpose performer Heartbreak City won in May has worked out really well, with the next two horses home winning next time, and he's taken to follow up here. With further scope for progress in this sphere based on his useful Flat form, Heartbreak City's revised ITC mark of 118 looks on the lenient side and there's a good chance he's been targeted at this race since given his trainer.
Alveena - Galway 18:50
Alveena will need to improve again in this handicap, despite the fact she finished a good third of four to Sword Fighter in the Group 2 Curragh Cup last time, but she's undoubtedly going the right way and the first-time blinkers may help her progress further (she won the only other time she's worn headgear). Dermot Weld's four-year-old should also be suited by dropping back to a mile and a half.
Dalton Highway - Galway 20:00
Dalton Highway's claims aren't obvious judged on his form figures, but there's a strong chance this handicap has been his target for a long time given his connections. He wasn't seen to best effect under a patient ride on his handicap debut at Fairyhouse last month, but he's bred to appreciate this longer trip and the first-time blinkers (just like his stablemate Alveena) are a pointer that he's been readied to go close, too.
