Timeform's Irish team highlight three selections for this afternoon's meeting at Tramore.....
"...Dougal Philps is expected to prove a different proposition now faced with less testing conditions in this sphere."
Dougal Philps developed into a fairly useful sort on the Flat, but it would be fair to say he has proven disappointing on both his starts over hurdles. However, it is still early days and he is expected to prove a different proposition now faced with less testing conditions in this sphere. He faced a stiff task in the Irish Lincolnshire on the Flat when last seen, but the track should suit and he looks to have been found a winnable opportunity back over timber.
Time Please showed some promise in a bumper on debut and showed fair form when second to Goodtime Boy in a maiden at Limerick on hurdling debut. He has failed to build on that effort in three subsequent starts over timber, but his yard have been back among the winners of late and he looks sure to go close if reproducing that debut effort in what looks an ordinary maiden hurdle.
Fiery Oscar has been in the form of his life over hurdles of late, winning his last two starts at Clonmel in February/March. He returns to the larger obstacles this afternoon and, while he has experienced jumping problems in the past, he is potentially thrown in off his current mark over fences and he will prove very difficult to beat if putting in a clear round.
