The festivities of the York Ebor meeting may be continuing but the Timeform Irish team has found three selections to carry us on into the evening at Tipperary...
Despite having won only twice in eleven starts, Coolnagree has developed into a useful performer and beat subsequent Irish 1000 Guineas second and Jersey Stakes winner, Ishvana, at the Curragh in March.
The nursery at 17:45 looks to be a good race for its type with all but one of the six runners having won a race previously. However, it may pay to side with Sugar Boy who had been running well in some decent maidens prior to getting off the mark at the fourth attempt at Galway last time. Sugar Boy showed a willing attitude in testing conditions that day, a quality that will stand him in good stead given the heavy going this evening, and he looks capable of following up.
The Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes at 18:20 is the feature race on the card at Tipperary and Coolnagree is taken to continue her stable's fine run of form. Despite having won only twice in eleven starts, Coolnagree has developed into a useful performer and beat subsequent Irish 1000 Guineas second and Jersey Stakes winner, Ishvana, at the Curragh in March. Whilst it is fair to say she was receiving plenty of weight that day, she has since bettered the form when runner-up in a pair of listed races at the same course. The prevailing conditions tonight will not pose a problem and she is taken to make her mark at this higher level at the first time of asking.
To The Sky has not been seen since May, but his last two performances prior to having a short break make him of serious interest in the handicap at 19:55. The Joanna Morgan-trained gelding nearly shed his maiden tag over hurdles on his latest outing, but prior to that had gone close in a one-mile handicap at Gowran off tonight's mark. The step up to nine-furlongs is expected to suit and, with his yard back amongst the winners of late, all the signs point to bold bid.
