Timeform's Irish team have found three bets for tonight's meeings at Cork and Downpatrick...
The Condon yard could very well land a quickfire double with Montebell...
As with several of her sire Montjeu's progeny, Mojita is not totally straightforward, but she is nevertheless talented and expected to progress further from her seasonal reappearance at Tipperary last week in this 10 furlong contest. That race was over an inadequate trip of 7 furlongs, and her chance is further enhanced given her proven effectiveness on ground this soft, something her two main market rivals have yet to encounter. On top of that, Echoes of History has been off the track since September 2010, leaving the Ken Condon-trained filly with solid claims.
The Condon yard could very well land a quickfire double with Montebell in the maiden that concludes the card. This one and a half mile race has attracted many of the bigger yards in Ireland, with Ballydoyle responsible for three of the nine declared, while the Weld and Bolger camps are represented too. Despite that, after a very promising debut when finishing third at Navan behind Karatash, Montebell looks likely to improve and may be difficult to beat, landing a blow for the 'underdog' in the process.
At the other end of the island from Cork, Harps Counsel, whose last run was in the Aintree Fox Hunters, ought to find the maiden Hunter Chase at Downpatrick much less competitive as he strives to add to his three victories in points. Over the last two years, his form figures at this track read 432 and, while his usual front running tactics were not possible at Liverpool last month, he should prove difficult to catch in this company.
