Gowran Park hosts today's action and Timeform's Irish team have unravelled three horses of particular interest, all due to be ridden by title-chasing jockey Wayne Lordan.
Horizon Sky has to carry top weight in the seven furlong nursery, but he's a well-bred, expensively bought colt who has shown plenty of promise in his four outings so far.
Despite still retaining maiden status, Horizon Sky (16:35) has to carry top weight in the seven-furlong nursery, but he's a well-bred, expensively bought colt who has shown plenty of promise in his four outings so far, in particular when only finding Einsteins Folly too strong in a similar event over C&D last month. Racing off the same mark here, he can confirm places with Fromajacktoaking, who finished behind David Wachman's charge that day and a similar performance will put him right in the mix today, especially as two of his main rivals, the in-form fillies Sherzam and Randall's Alannah have the worst of the draw.
Our next selection is Three Bells (17:40) in the all-aged handicap over seven furlongs, in the hope that the headgear/tongue strap combination used for the first time when finishing third at Bellewstown two weeks ago brings about a bit more improvement here. That was his first piece of worthwhile form, following on from a trio of uninspiring spins on the all weather last year, and if anything the drop back to this trip from a mile should also be beneficial. From a basement mark and well drawn, he looks well worth considering.
The following event sees recent dual hurdle winner Tugboat (18:10) returning to the level and he looks well treated to complete his hat-trick, admittedly facing several in-form rivals, in this otherwise open-looking handicap. He had previously created a good impression when winning a 10-furlong mile maiden at Navan for John Oxx last autumn, a race where many of the horses that finished behind that day have won since, but his form went up a notch when taking a novice hurdle at Galway last time, beating some useful prospects into the bargain. For all that this trip may be on the short side for him, he looks well capable of exploiting his current mark.
