The Meydan Carnival rolls on and Timeform have three selections for you...
ANAEROBIO, who followed up his winning return in a handicap when landing this race 12 months ago, is taken to retain his crown despite not having the benefit of a run this time...
Meydan 16:30 - Pilote
PILOTE caught the eye on debut for this yard when third behind True Story in a listed contest over C&D two weeks ago. He made good ground after not being ideally placed in a slowly-run affair and looks to have a big chance to make amends back in this easier company. Elsewhere Validus hasn't been seen for a year though has gone well fresh before, while Steeler has been knocking on the door for some time and is considered.
Meydan 17:05 - Haatheq
HAATHEQ has taken time to come to hand but there were more positive signs when he finished third behind Surfer in a Group 2 over C&D last time. He is well handicapped on the best of his form and should be spot on now. Tamarkuz could be much too good for these, though he often loses his chance at the stalls, notably when unseating his rider last March. He was narrowly denied by Faulkner last time on dirt debut two weeks ago despite again getting a tardy start and should be given major respect for all risks are attached. Empire Storm ran respectably on dirt debut two weeks ago and should benefit from that.
Meydan 17:40 - Anaerobio
Not the strongest of races for the grade and ANAEROBIO, who followed up his winning return in a handicap when landing this race 12 months ago, is taken to retain his crown despite not having the benefit of a run this time. Eastern Rules hasn't run since July though has the form to be involved, while Safety Check is sure to be popular after winning here two weeks ago, though he was seen to best effect that day and is worth taking on in this grade. The most fascinating runner is Red Ray who holds strong South African Grade 1 form for Joey Ramsden. He is sure to benefit from this first run since May though.
