There's a good card at Meydan on Thursday and Timeform put forward three selections...
Meydan 17:05 - Back Shaishee
Shaishee won his first two starts here and has shaped as if he's still a well-handicapped horse since, particularly when third in a strong handicap early last month. A return to this C&D can see him resume his progress. Paul Hanagan seemingly prefers Muaanid and this recent C&D winner is entitled to respect off just 2 lb higher for all this trip does look his absolute maximum, while US import Pazolini won all 4 of his starts last year and is a fascinating runner.
Meydan 17:40 - Dark Emerald
Dark Emerald and Safety Check are the form horses with both already having a highly productive time this Carnival. The latter does have a 3 lb penalty for his Al Fahidi Fort win and has to prove he's as effective at one mile, meaning preference is for Dark Emerald, who was particularly impressive over seven furlongs last week and is absolutely thriving. Outstrip didn't take to dirt last time and this is much more suitable, making him a danger.
Meydan 18:15 - Belgian Bill
Belgian Bill won here last month and the form has been boosted considerably by the runner-up Dark Emerald since. He was unlucky when third behind Tha'ir over C&D last time (hampered and stuck too far back in a slowly-run race) and can make amends now. Flying The Flag caught the eye on return recently and is entitled to considerable respect, the pair looking the standout contenders on form. His stablemate Mushreq isn't the force of old but should bounce back from a rare poor effort last time now tongue tied.
