Nick Shiambouros is hoping to end his current stint in the tipping chair with a New Years Eve winner and a short priced lay at Lingfield...
"He appears to be heading in the right direction and should go very close"
13:30 Lingfield - Broadway Icon
Broadway Icon sets a decent standard in this large group of maidens.
This colt finished third to Take The Helm at Wolverhampton earlier this month. He was headed inside the final furlong, but kept on well and was not beaten all that far. He appears to be heading in the right direction and should go very close.
He is currently trading at 3.3512/5 and I have backed him at this price.
Cambodia is the obvious danger to the selection.
This Fast Company gelding caught the eye on debut when finishing second to Severini at Kempton. He missed the break, but ran on in good style in the closing stages and finished the race with good energy.
He is certain to improve but the stable is not in the greatest form.
14:00 Lingfield - Captain Lars
I will be pushing the lay button on Captain Lars in this seller.
This gelding was turned over at odds on when finishing second to 69 rated Seek The Fair Land over this course earlier this month. He delivered a strong challenge a furlong from home, but could not get by the game winner.
He had a rating of 102 earlier this year but appears to have lost his way. Trainer Michael Bell has decided to try a visor today, presumably in an attempt to help him focus.
He makes zero appeal to me and is easily opposable at his current price of 2.26/5 on the exchange.
My idea of the winner is Ixelles Diamond from the mighty Richard Fahey yard. This filly finished fifth to Liberty Jack at Epsom in September. She ran on fairly well in the closing stages and was not beaten far.
She comes in to this race a fresh horse and is reasonably priced at 4.3100/30 on the exchange.
