Bets Of The Day: Castleacre ready to deliver
Nick Shiambouros hopes to end his current stint in the tipping chair with a couple of winners from Chelmsford and Bath...
"Last season she finished fourth in a Listed race at Newbury, and a reproduction of that effort would be put her in the mix today"
14:50 Chelmsford - Castleacre
Castleacre is an interesting runner in this conditions event.
This lightly raced individual finished fourth to Evergate at Windsor in May. She ran on really well in the closing stages, and finished the race willingly. Last season she finished fourth in a Listed race at Newbury, and a reproduction of that effort would be put her in the mix today. In addition she should appreciate the return to seven furlongs. At present she is trading at [10.0] on the exchange which is more than fair.
Raven's Lady heads the market at [2.68]. She finished a close third to Queen Kindly in a Listed race at Pontefract earlier this month. She has the form in the book to take this, but I think the selection has more upside.
16:10 Bath - Awfaa
Awfaa is my idea of the winner of this maiden.
This well related filly was a little disappointing when finishing fourth to Keeper's Choice at Salisbury earlier this month. She held every chance a furlong from home, but did not find as much as expected.
She had previously finished second to Pretty Asset at HQ which reads well in the context of this race. I think she is worth another chance, and should go close for her astute conditioner. At present she is trading at [3.6] on the exchange.
Chalky finished ahead of the selection at Salisbury. She finished strongly, and probably would have won in a few more strides. I am not certain her late running style will be as effective over this course, and looks short enough in the market at [3.75].
