Nick Shiambouros was out of luck yesterday with two second place finishers. Nick hopes to end his current stint in the tipping chair with a couple of winners from Newcastle and Newbury...
"His conditioner has turned him out quickly, and this likeable individual should make a bold bid over this longer trip"
14:00 Newcastle - Rude Awakening
I am going to take a chance with Rude Awakening in this novice stakes.
This colt caught the eye on debut when finishing fifth to Tunes Of Glory at Lingfield last week. He ran on in good style in the closing stages, and was not beaten all that far. His conditioner has turned him out quickly, and this likeable individual should make a bold bid over this longer trip. In addition the yard is going well which is an added bonus. At present he is trading at 7.06/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Kit Marlowe heads the market at 3.55. He has shown promise in three starts and should appreciate the extra yardage. He sets a fair standard, and appears to be the main danger.
18:50 Newbury - Time Change
Time Change should make the most of her experience in this interesting race.
This filly finished an excellent second to Natural at Doncaster earlier this month. She kept on really well in the rain softened ground, and was gaining on the winner close home. I think the better ground will suit her, and has every right to move forward. At present she is trading at 3.55 which is just about right.
Debutant Mahaarat merits consideration. This Dubawi filly comes from a good family and could be competitive at first asking. She is bred to get further but represents top connections. At present she is trading at 12.5 on the exchange.
