Nick Shiambouros was out of luck yesterday when his best bet was beaten by the heavily backed The Gurkha. Nick hopes to end his current stint in the tipping chair with a couple of winners from Goodwood...
"I was impressed with her attitude and she is entitled to improve considerably"
Intelligence Cross is an interesting runner in this high class event.
This War Front colt finished a close second to Mehmas in the July Stakes at HQ earlier this month. He ran on strongly inside the final furlong, but could not get by the game winner. I think this talented individual has more to offer, and has a 3lb pull with the winner which could prove decisive.
The stable has had a couple of heavily backed winners at the meeting and this could be another. At present he is trading at [5.2] on the exchange which is more than fair.
Blue Point is the short priced favourite at [1.79]. He is unbeaten in two starts and was most impressive when winning a minor event at Doncaster earlier this month. He is open to significant improvement, but the water is a lot deeper today.
Amabilis should go very close in this maiden.
This filly caught the eye on debut when finishing second to Dabyah at HQ earlier this month. She kept on really well in the closing stages, and was only just denied. I was impressed with her attitude and she is entitled to improve considerably. In addition the stable is in fine form.
She is trading at [2.48] and I have backed her at that price.
The main danger to the selection is Rhododendron. This beautifully bred filly finished second to Rehana at the Curragh in June. She ran on fairly well in the closing stages, but never had a realistic chance of catching the easy winner. She is bound to make her presence felt, but I think the selection will have her measure. At present she is trading at [2.84] on the exchange.
